About
In May 2009, I became a Hofstra graduate with a degree in Public Relations. Originally hailing from the suburbs of Philadelphia, I have since migrated to the big city of New York. As of now, I am always looking to find either a job, hobby or time-consuming obsession that fits my passions and strengths for a symbiotic relationship.
The only thing you really need to know about me is that I love the Internet. When I say that I love the Internet. I mean it. Feeling sad, the Internet will metaphorically hold my hand. Having a hard time, the Internet will give me some valid advice. Far from home? The internet will connect me with my friends and family. Have something to say, the Internet will give me a place to say it. I know that makes me nerdy, and well, I’ve got news for you nerds rule the world. While respecting traditional PR, I’ve always felt a kinship and passion with digital PR and communication.
I’ve been socializing on the Internet since, well, my parents allowed me to. Under the moniker Saratara, I’ve been traveling around the digital space and leaving my mark through comments and content. My first blog was on Xanga. And that baby allowed me to share my thoughts, photos and memories. Xanga created a time capsule of my tweeny self. But I’ve since moved on. Now I have created two blogs. SaraKnee.com is a collection of my thoughts on music, life and the Internet’s creations. BuyorDontBuy.com, in which I am the creator and contributor to, is a group review blog that we have dubbed a “guide to the reputation economy.” If you are like or dislike anything, you too can submit a post. (Do it!)
For the most part, I’ve always worked in digital and technological companies. I got my start at Guideworks, a company developing interactive television. I moved onto a startup now called Youcast, formerly BuddyLube, to promote bands and people through social networks. And most recently, I found my way to Edelman Digital, creating, and executing campaigns to promote products, companies, etc (you know, all that PR stuff) online through blogs, networks, and any where else digitally. It turns out, I found my calling! Since then, I began freelancing at MS&L Worldwide in July as a Digital Consultant. I am learning new things and expanding my skill set to include direct client-work and managing deliverables.
I need music. Music has the power to make a day good better, a bad day manageable, and life something brilliant. This blog also shows what I know and live for in the world of music. I was also the music show producer for my college radio’s indie and experimental show along for a DJ for my 4 year college career. I hope to continue being a radio DJ for years after, but who knows about that medium, any more. Ha!
